The 4th and 5th grade went to steelfield landfill. Very surprisingly, it didn't have a bad stench, and there were many birds such as sea gulls, vultures, and bald eagles. When Mr. Glenn was showing us around, there was a big pond that was clean, but when the storm came, the trash fell into it. This landfill was made 17 years ago. That means it was made in 1987. We were so happy we went to the landfill.

I really liked the incinerator. It had a more horrible stench than the landfill. I was shocked when Mr. Bart told us that they make electricity out of trash!! The rails were very dusty. I think i saw a RAW,UNCOOKED CHICKEN!! We wore hardhats and protective glasses. They were huge on us. They had a computor that is connected to a camera and we saw garbage burning!! There was a lot of shoking facts that surprised me. For example, they generate 13 megawatts per hour, so thats 1,300,000 wats per hour!! I also learned that when garbage decomposes, It starts to steam up. This field trip turned out to be a very smelly and great adventure. Im so glad we went to the incinorator.
