My Field Trip to Steelfield Landfill: 2/27/2014
"AH!" Before our class trip to the Steelfield landfill, I thought it would be a smelly place with trash everywhere. When I jumped off the bus to go to the landfill, it wasn't smelly! WOW! As I got closer I saw a huge trash mountain, but the amazing part was that this mountain was 190 feet above sea level and it was covered with dirt. If you stand on this mountain you can see Panama City Beach's airport which is 5 miles away. Isn't that a lot? Yes, it is. If you say no, you are WRONG. I also saw amazing birds like black vultures, crows, seagulls, and more... The birds gathered around the site looking for food. They could get hurt from trying to eat trash. After a long tour led by Mr. Glenn and learning about recycling we returned to school.

Waste to Energy Facility: 3/6/2014
Journal Entry
My class and I had a field trip to the Waste Energy Facility today. I thought it was going to be a smelly place but no. It wasn't smelly the whole time but it was sometimes. When we were on the bus with the windows open, it smell horrible! When we got off the bus into an indoor building Mr. Bart and Mr. Brian taught us about an incinerator. I learned facts like the fire that ism burning the garbage is 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Next came my favorite part, visiting inside the incinerator. We stepped in the incinerator while everyone pinched their nose. After a little bit the smell was fine and everyone was distracted looking at the piles of trash. Next we dragged up 78 stairs. "WOW"! Last we SADLY left. WA WA WA WA, we left.
This is the Bay County Waste to Energy Facility
Thank you mr. bart and brian

Thank You Letter
Dear Mr. Bart and Brian,
Thank you so much Mr. Bart and Brian for stopping your important job to teach us about
your awesome job {incinerating trash}. I learned so much and had fun in the tour. One thing
learned I learned is the controls of the incinerator, but "UGH." It took so many stairs to get up
there. Another thing i learned was the fire triangle. Fire needs fuel, oxyegen, and heat to be a
fire. I also had so much fun in the tour. I loved to see the trash on that slide thing and look at it
going up and into the incinerator. This was one of my favorite field trips i had and probibly the most fun. Thank you so much for your time to teach us about the awesome incinerator.
Hope to join again!!!
THE END!!! :D

To put their poisonous waste away.
OCEAN POLLUTION
Did you know how dangerous ocean pollution is. There is many things that are dangerous about water pollution. One of the things are it kills animals. Some animals such as sea turtles eat jellyfish and if there is trash it can trick the turtle to thinking it's food so the turtle will eat is. The trash will get stuck in the turtles throat so the poor animal will die. Also if there is oil pollution in the ocean, it's unsafe to swim.
